The Bodyzone™ 500 mattress is a non-powered pressure redistribution surface made of 3rd generation viscoelastic memory foam. Available in two versions, a 2 or 3 layered foam support surface, this 6" thick surface has a top layer foam core that is comprised of open-cell viscoelastic polyurethane with 40% higher air flow than traditional foam. This open cell visco allows for superior heat dissipation. The proprietary VPF process used to make the viscoelastic foam is environmentally friendly and has virtually zero emissions.
The patented SMT™ (Surface Modification Technology) process allows the surface of the foam to be altered up to five different ways which includes pattern type, size, depth, spacing, and location. These surface alterations provide enhanced benefits including pressure redistribution, reduction of friction and shear, zoned cushioning layers, and enhanced air circulation. These zoned cushioning layers alternate between firm and enveloping support which enhance pressure redistribution to high risk areas. Clinically, this means protection of the most vulnerable areas, including the head, shoulders, elbows, sacrum, hips, and heels in addition to better spinal alignment for patients.
The Bodyzone™ 500 support surface provides support the supine patient with stability for the skeleton, distribution of body weight over the maximum area to reduce tissue pressure, and control of shear forces that are generated on the skin surface. The specially designed waterproof, anti-microbial stretch cover moves in every direction to minimize the forces of shear and friction when patients are moved, lifted, or turned. The Bodyzone™ 500 support surface is used as one component of a comprehensive health plan to minimize the breakdown of skin tissue to prevent the development of pressure ulcers or the worsening of pressure ulcers present on the trunk or pelvis.
