Surefill®—A Revolutionary Barrier Composite which Improves Pour-in-Place Applications
- Surefill® utilizes a revolutionary barrier composite, attached to a foam core, which eliminates the pin holes which are commonly seen in flame laminated products that are used in pour-in-place (PIP) applications. Pinholes in a barrier film allow the molded foam from the pouring process to penetrate the film and reach the outer foam layer. After curing, the invasive molded foam particles shrink and cause mottling or "orange peel" in the A surface of the component. Surefill® can eliminate this defect in many pour-in-place applications including production of molded head restraints and armrests.
The proprietary film used in Surefill® is pliable, easy
to handle, and simple to load into the PIP molds. The pliability of the film technology reduces the issue of "breaking" which can be present when using other stiff-filmed materials. The total reduction in pin-holes, ease of handling, and less "breaking" reduces the amount of scrap and increases the efficiency of PIP processes using Surefill®.
